How Fusion42 verifies its data — the methodology

Fusion42 publishes structured data about venture funds, startups and the news that moves founders, across three surfaces: Raise (funds with fresh capital), Scout (newly funded startups) and Wire (founder news, decoded). This page explains where that data comes from, how it is verified, and what each provenance label on our pages actually claims.

Where the data comes from

- Primary announcements. Funds and rounds enter the database from the announcements themselves — regulatory and press feeds, fund and company newsrooms — checked continuously through the day. - Company and fund websites. Enrichment reads the entity's own site for thesis, cheque size, sectors, geographies and team, and records the source. - Automated enrichment with review gates. Enrichment pipelines propose values; anything that fails quality scoring is held back from publication (Scout profiles publish only above a data-quality threshold, and never while flagged for review). - Editorial analysis. Wire stories are selected and decoded for founders by a named author, with the underlying press source cited on every story.

What the provenance labels mean

Each page carries an authority block stating only what we can truthfully claim:

- public_filing — the fact traces to a public filing or regulatory source. - company_site — read from the entity's own website at the recorded time. - founder_submission — provided directly by the company's team. - fusion42_review — reviewed by Fusion42 before publication.

An empty authority block means exactly that: no verification claim is made for that page. We never invent a verification stamp at render time, and a last-verified date only appears when a real verification event exists.

Freshness

- New funds and rounds appear as they are announced; fund pages show their full profile while fresh and a reduced public tier afterwards. - Aggregate figures (totals, capital tracked, sector and geography mixes) are computed live from the same database the platform itself runs on — the numbers on the public pages are the numbers our users see inside the product. - Wire stories cite and link their original press source; our analysis is clearly separated from the source's reporting.

Entity links

Connections between stories, funds and startups are published only when the match is verified — either the entity's own website appears in the story, the entity is named in the headline under strict matching rules, or a reviewer has confirmed it. Fuzzy or suggested matches are never published as editorial claims.

Corrections

Errors happen in fast-moving data. When we find one — a duplicate fund, a mis-attributed round, an inflated figure — we correct the record and the correction propagates to every public surface. If you spot an error, contact us at [fusion-42.com/contact](https://fusion-42.com/contact) and we will review it.
